課程目標	Class participants will play and perform in English,doing more interactive conversation than they likely have done in any English course.This is accomplished through playful exercises, skits and improv games as well as short readings with collective discussion.“Mistakes”are great! We laugh a lot and speak English any way we want, like children. By playing/pretending to be speakers of English, we become speakers of English. 1.目標透過「玩」、「表演」學習方式，以及與他人互動，營造練習英文的學習環境。 2.每週課程透過有趣活動、短劇（角色扮演）、即興遊戲等方式，再帶入每週主題的閱讀與討論。 3.期望學員不要害怕「說錯」，透過「錯誤」學習，成為一個不要害怕開口說英文的人。 4.本課程為全英文。
學員條件	This course is open to all levels beginner and intermediate. 不限任何程度，只要勇於開口說英文者皆可。

第1堂	Play一起玩吧！ Introduction: How playing helps us to grow; group will do improv games and playful exercises, mixed with selected readings on play and development and a group exploration of their meaning. As will be true every week,we will have lots of open conversation. 介紹課程： 1.這門課怎麼「玩」，如何透過「玩」學習英文。 2.透過即興遊戲與趣味活動，搭配短文閱讀，討論文章內容與意涵。 3.每週會針對一個議題進行開放討論。 4.課程與活動會依據學員狀況隨時調整。
第2堂	Meet Lev Vygotsky 認識Lev Vygotsky Reading selection on role of play in human development:children learn language by playing, all day long, with support of adults. They babble and we respond to them as if they are using language, even before they are! This is a useful model for us to follow in learning a second language— at any age. We will have brief discussion of this, but more importantly, we will continue to use a mix of improv games and playful exercises so that students speak and listen a lot, make plenty of mistakes and have fun performing as English speakers. 1.談談「角色扮演」如何幫助語言學習：（1）理解學習一個新的語言就像小孩學習方式一樣，透過玩耍學習。（2）在完全不會一個語言的情況下，我們應該怎麼學語言。 2.藉由即興與有趣的活動，帶領大家嘗試打開耳朵聽、開口講英文，同時鼓勵不要害怕犯錯。
第3堂	World news 世界大小事1 This week’s reading will be from the New York Times; we will read aloud, ask questions, learn new words and then have open conversation. Games and play too! We will also each week have a segment on day-to-day vocabulary (ordering food, cooking, travel, etc.) 1.選擇一篇紐約時報的短新聞，一起閱讀，進行討論對話。 2.認識常用日常詞彙：訂餐、烹飪、旅行。
第4堂	Popular music 一起聽歌1 Songs by Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, et al. We read, study and discuss the lyrics, then listen to performances. Every day English….Games and play exercises, too, of course. 1.認識Bob Dylan, Nina Simone等人歌曲。 2.討論與認識歌曲的時代背景、歌詞涵義等。
第5堂	Poetry 一起讀詩1 We will read two or three poems by American and British poets from the 19th and 20th Century. Question and answer re dificult words and grammar; open iscussion.Every day English….Games and play exercises, too,of course. 1.一起閱讀19-20世紀美國與英國的詩。 2.認識這些詩的時代背景、涵義。 3.從詩中學習單詞、文法。
第6堂	Theatre 一起演戲1 We will perform a scene from a 20th Century piece of realist theatre: Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller; questions, discussion… Every day English….Games and play exercises, too, of course. 1.介紹20世紀現實主義戲劇劇本：Arthur Miller的Death of a Salesman。 2.一起閱讀與討論劇本。 3.帶領學員嘗試演一段劇碼。
第7堂	World News 世界大小事2 Readings from BBC news, the Guardian… questions,discussion… Every day English….Games and play exercises, too, of course. 1.選擇一篇BBC、衛報的新聞。 2.一起閱讀與討論新聞議題，新聞中的重要單詞、意涵等。
第8堂	Talent Show! 達人秀1 Students will perform! They will bring in poems, essays, songs, articles— whatever they like— and perform these for the group. Open conversation after performances,along with clarification of difficult words and grammar. 1.學員自行準備一項題材，可以是朗誦詩、一篇文章、一首歌，以自由方式展現準備的題材。 2.一起深入討論學員所準備的題材中單詞、文法。 3.本次課程將分為2週進行。
第9堂	Talent Show! 達人秀2 Students will perform! They will bring in poems, essays, songs, articles— whatever they like— and perform these for the group. Open conversation after performances,along with clarification of difficult words and grammar. 1.學員自行準備一項題材，可以是朗誦詩、一篇文章、一首歌，以自由方式展現準備的題材。 2.一起深入討論學員所準備的題材中單詞、文法。 3.本次課程將分為2週進行。

第11堂	Poetry一起讀詩2 We will read poems by American and British poets from the 19th and 20th Century. Questions and answers; open discussion. Every day English….Games and play exercises, too, of course. 1.介紹19-20世紀美國與英國詩歌。 2.討論與閱讀詩歌中的重要單詞與文法。
第12堂	Theatre 一起演戲2 We will perform a scene from a 20th Century piece of realist theatre: Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry; questions, discussion… Every day English….Games and play exercises, too, of course. 1.介紹20世紀現實主義戲劇劇本：Lorraine Hansberry 的Raisin in the Sun。 2.一起閱讀劇本橋段與討論劇本內容。 3.共同嘗試表演其中一段劇情。
第13堂	World news 世界大小事3 As above: current events from major press 1.不限任何媒體，選擇一則當下的新聞時事議題進行討論。 2. 一起閱讀與討論新聞議題觀點，以及新聞中的重要單詞、意涵等。
第14堂	Popular music 一起聽歌3 As above: contemporary songs in English. 1.一起聽聽現在流行的熱門英語歌曲。 2. 討論與認識歌曲中重要單詞與涵義。
第15堂	Poetry 一起讀詩3 As above: contemporary poems in English. 1.介紹當代英文詩歌。 2.一起閱讀與討論詩歌涵義、重要單詞與文法。
第16堂	Theatre 一起演戲3 As above: Top Dog Under Dog by Suzan-Lori Parks 1.介紹當代戲劇：Suzan-Lori Parks的Top Dog Under Dog。 2. 一起閱讀劇本橋段與討論劇本內容。 3.共同嘗試表演其中一段劇情。
第17堂	Play is the thing! 「玩」這件事 A reading about performance and development… discussion, every day English, improv games… 帶著學員一起思考關於「玩」英文這件事，一起聊聊透過前面10幾週的課程感受，利用即興遊戲或活動，帶入對話的學習模式。
第18堂	Talent Show and open conversation 成果回饋：達人秀3 Students will perform! They will bring in poems, essays, songs, articles— whatever they like— and perform these for the group. Open conversation. Collective appreciation: we ask students to say how they have seen other students develop. 1.學員自行準備一項題材，可以是朗誦詩、一篇文章、一首歌，以自由方式展現準備的題材。 2.學員欣賞彼此的表演，並且反饋說出所看見、聽見。
